Investments

Between 2006 and 2011, Irving Shipbuilding will have invested $90 million in the skills of its people, its infrastructure and the technology used in its yards.  Much of that investment has taken place at Halifax Shipyard over the past several years.

Since the purchase of the Halifax Shipyard, Irving Shipbuilding Inc. has invested in the following upgrades in its Halifax facility:

• New dock and gate pumps
• Resurfacing of 120-year-old graving dock
• Refitting existing buildings with modern, well-equipped office spaces for DND and Coast Guard customers
• Building of retaining wall
• New crane pads
• Extending the steel assembly shops
• Cladding all buildings
• Building locker rooms, change rooms, and lunchrooms
• New launch ways
• IT cabling and hardware upgrades
